In June 2010, my father and I flew in to Holland to start a six week cycling trip. We drank beer, checked out the “Red Light District” and visited the Anne Frank Huis as well as the Amsterdam Museum. I took a day trip to Volendam where I witnessed incredible Dutch football pride, while also meandering around the marina. I even witnessed a fire! As we left Amsterdam on our journey to Belgium we happened across a hoard of cyclists boarding a ferry. Bewildered, we asked them where they were off to. Their response? To watch the TOUR DE FRANCE! It set us back a day in our travels, but it was worth it to see the cyclists zip by as us we sat on the side of the road on a scorching hot day. My dad even got some swag….
