Best of the VINOS is the world’s first wine-based film festival.
The premise of the event is to rejoice life through wine, with this year’s event being a celebration of the festival’s best coming from Osoyoos to Whistler’s Cornucopia.
Since 2010, wine and film enthusiasts have been creating short films about BC wines and Wineries. The top submissions from 2010, 2011 and 2012 were screened last night at Whistler Cornucopia’s Best of the VINOS.
The event provided an interactive opportunity for guests where they voted by “clap-o-meter” to determine the winner of the People’s Choice Award.
Although there were many crowd pleasers, and the competition was tight, The Real Housewines of British Columbia walked away with the win. Their film was a parody of the popular TV show where the woman who represented different vineyards slagged each other.
Larklyn Statten, producer of the film, walked away with two nights of deluxe accommodation at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, 24 bottles of prime BC wine, and two tickets to the fourth annual VINO’s at Cornucopia.
The films were followed by the Vinos wrap party, where guests had the opportunity to mingle with the producers of the winning submissions while sampling BC wines. A DJ set the mood of the party while dancers provided entertainment as people sipped and schmoozed.
