Liberty Merchant Company hosted its 20th annual Fall into the Market tasting event last night showcasing a wide variety of coastal wines at every price point. Held at the Net Loft on Granville Island guests had the opportunity to sample all of the wines…
….if they had the patience and drive to make it through the canned sardine-like crowd. It was a sold out event which may not have been anticipated. Regardless, guests meandered from table to table either strategically, from white to red, or sporadically around the room. I even overheard a few guests mentioning that in the two hours they were there they were able to sample all of the wines and even have time for a quick snack and some socializing.
This event was an opportunity for guests to learn more about their libations of choice whether a dry Pinot Noir or a unique White Blend with nine Varietals. This piqued the interest of many, while it seemed others just wanted to get their money’s worth and drink glass after glass, revisiting their favorites.
Along with the wine samplings there were snacks from a handful of Granville Island food purveyors. La Baguette et l’Echalote offered an Olive Tapenade, a Country Pepper Pate and a Salmon and Cream Cheese spread atop of their fresh baguettes.
Terra Breads had a variety of breads such as their tasty (purple) walnut loaf to be accompanied with Dussas ham and cheese. The Salmon Shop had a table full of focaccia bread with tuna dip, hummus, spinach and artichoke dip and olives. Benton Brother’s was also there sampling their delicious cheese including my favorite of the night, the Alpindon.
All of the proceeds from ticket sales and draw prizes at this Liberty sponsored event directly support the BC SPCA. It’s too bad that every time I’m drinking wine it’s not for a good cause but rather my gluttonous wine-loving self. You win some, you lose some.
